Climate of change, the Catholic church'ss dance with science

From Galileo to genetics, the Roman Catholic Church has danced with science, sometimes in a high-tension tango but more often in a supportive waltz. Pope Francis is about to introduce a new twist: global warming.
The field of genetics was started by a Catholic cleric, Gregor Mendel. Entire aspects of astronomy, including the genesis of the Big Bang theory, began with members of the Catholic clergy. While some religions reject evolution, Catholicism has said for 65 years that it fits with the story of creation.

Who is the Holy Spirit and Why is He Important to Christians

Why is the Holy Spirit important in the life of Christians? In some of my interactions with Christians, it seems that they see the Holy Spirit as something that happened in the early days of the Church, who has now left the scene. However, the book of Acts makes it clear that the Holy Spirit, first given to the disciples, was poured out to thousands of early Jewish believers and eventually the Gentiles, also. How important is the Holy Spirit? Blasphemy against any other member of the Trinity (e.g., the Father or the Son) can be forgiven, although blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. The Holy Spirit empowers  the believer to perform acts of faith greater than their own physical capabilities. Feeling powerless these days? Tap into the Christian's power source and live the Christian life to its fullest.

YOUR WORDS DEFINE YOUR LIFE!

Thursday, May 21, 2015.

Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift (Ephesians 4:29 MSG).

Sharing Jesus as We Go

The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) is a well-known and well-loved passage. And for good reason: it encapsulates the mission of every follower of Jesus Christ, including kids. This passage is often used in sermons and discussions about world missions – rightly so – but it is about so much more than that. It’s about daily living. Part of our problem could be a result of not quite understanding the very first phrase in the commission: “go, therefore, and make disciples.” When many of us consider the verb “go” we think very practically.

Do These Eerie Trumpet Noises Coming From the Sky Point to Christ's Return?

"And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet and they shall gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other." –Matthew 24:31

It's been happening around the world for almost ten years: strange trumpet-like sounds that are so eerie they've caused people to stop dead in their tracks and look up to the sky to find the source.
