Pastor Shot Outside Connecticut Church as He Put Up Flags for Memorial Day

Pastor Shot Outside Connecticut Church as He Put Up Flags for Memorial Day

A Connecticut pastor was shot outside his church early Sunday morning (May 24) as he put flags outside the church for Memorial Day. NBC Connecticut reports Rev. Dr. Augustus Sealy was shot twice in the right leg and once in the left shoulder in a drive-by shooting outside First Church of the Nazarene in Hartford.

The pastor was hospitalized and underwent surgery but is expected to recover.

Sealy’s wife, Sharon Sealy, said that the pastor has remained faithful.

"He hasn't lost any hope. You know, this is something that was really terrible and shouldn't have happened and we've already prayed for that person who actually committed the crime,” she said.

“In spite of adversities, you know we look to God for strength and that’s what my family is doing right now.”

Church members learned of the shooting when they arrived at the church. The Christian Post reports Rev. Eustace McDonald of New York preached about holding onto hope at the service.
