Your heart matters! Sunday May 18th, 2015.
And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day. 1Samuel 10. 9.
Observe God first changed Saul's attitude before all the signs spoken by His prophet Samuel were fufilled that same day (1Sam. 10:2-8). This shows to experence the speedy fufillment of prophecies and its sustainance concerning your life, the state of your heart matters the most. This is likened to the four categories of enviroment the sowers' seeds fell on in Mark 4:3-8. However in biblical context, the heart is not that hollow muscular organ that pumps the blood through the circulatory system by rhythmic contraction and dilation; But also used figuratively very widely for the feelings, the will and even the intellect; likewise for the central or innermost part of something. Your heart is the seat of your conciousness and decisions. It determines your level of receptivness to the instructions from God's word and your perception of life in general. It is the governing council of your life (Prov. 4:13).
As a new creation, God's uptmost desire is to constantly give you a willing heart, and a new Spirit so you can dwell in the land He has given you (Exo. 35:5; Ezek. 37: 26-28; Luke 1:17). For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking ¡paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]. You are transformed to be more and more like Christ by the renewing of your mind (2Cor. 3:18; Rom. 12:2). Therefore Let the word spoken by Christ the Messiah have its home in your hearts and minds and dwell in you in all its richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom (Col. 3:16).
Action plan:
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23 (NLT).
Prayers:
Dear Father. Help me to be attentive to Your word and act correspondingly. I receive a change of heart today in Jesus' name. Amen.
